Our Story & Amazing Employees
In 2010, a young Dallas entrepreneur befriended a group of men who all grew up in the old Fish Trap Housing projects of West Dallas. These young men were finishing up an ex-offender program and as ex-cons with a 9th grade education, and with challenges like court dates, parole and probation meetings, lack of reliable transportation, gang tattoos or homelessness to face, all were less than hopeful about their life prospects. While odd jobs were found here and there, there was not a viable or legal source of income in the current market for these friends.
Out of those relationships formed a humble social business originally called 2S LandCare. Within six months of literal sweat equity, we had over $200k in projected annual revenue. Once the landscape operation was stable, sustainable and profitable, we introduced the construction aspect of our business model and ultimately became 2S Industries.
We've become familiar with the challenges of the inner city. We've lost guys to prison, relapse and even death. Though it seemed like a longshot to run a successful business with our demographic, we've always felt these guys are worth it.
Taking inventory of our experiences as we approach our S1,000,000 total revenue mark over the past 6 years, we can honestly say we are amazed at the deep and lasting impact in many of Dallas' forgotten neighborhoods and the lives of our friends and clients. The real reward of our effort is seeing former felons, gang members and drug dealers become homeowners, loving fathers, tax payers, and servant leaders of the communities they once exploited. Boys with street cred are developing into men, forever changing individuals, families and their communities.
